Andy

Growing up in Southern Calilfornia and riding along with his mother to work each morning listening to Oldies began Andy’s love affair with music. Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beach Boys, and The Beatles eventually pulled Andy into the world of Classic Rock. A gift of an old record player and Pink Floyd albums laid the foundation for the mind blowing that never left Andy the same. Driving his sister to high school each morning provided Andy with the opportunity to play 30 minutes of Classic Rock mixes to his captive audience, and constantly allowed the refinement of his "enhanced interrogation technique" of quizzing his sister on Classic Rock trivia. Her scars, to this day, have never healed. Andy then discovered Jazz and Classical music and lost many a friend due to his obsessions with Pink Floyd/John Coltrane/and Beethoven. The analyst Andy was court ordered to see at the time encouraged him to start playing music to enrich his fragile and shaky social life. As this was, in a sense, court ordered, Andy picked up the fretless electric bass in 2002 and joined a band. It is questionable whether or not playing music has had a positive effect on Andy’s social life, but as a founding member of Strix Vega, Andy has helped give the band their Classic Rock influence which leads many listeners to wonder if Strix Vega missed their niche by 35 years. After applying as a DJ at a U.S. Naval Base to spin nothing but pop-punk and emo music, Andy felt he was following his dreams of merging his love for music with his extreme distaste for work. These hopes came to an abrupt end when it was announced that the Naval Base Andy applied to was ordered for closure in 2009. The unemployment checks kept coming in, but Andy grew increasingly despondent. Andy’s friend worried about him, and it wasn’t until Carole Ann offered Andy a DJ position at The Point that he managed to pull himself together. Realizing that playing good music for good people was a more socially desirable trade than playing horrible music to glean sensitive information out of detainees regarding national security, made Andy realize that The Point was where he had to be. Now he is.
